Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Carlos Tocci was picked by the Chicago White Sox from the Philadelphia Phillies in the 2017 Rule V Draft on December 14, 2017. He was then immediately traded to the Texas Rangers for cash. He was coming off a very good year for the AA Reading Fightin' Phils, where he hit .307 in 113 games. He had also excelled in the winter leagues, batting over .300 for three consecutive seasons with the Tigres de Aragua starting in 2015-16.

He made the Rangers team out of spring training in 2018 and got to make his debut in the third game of the season on March 31st, after starting CF Delino DeShields Jr. had been placed on the disabled list with a broken bone in his hand. In his debut against the Houston Astros, he went 0 for 4 with a pair of strikeouts. He was one of the few players on the team who could play centerfield in DeShields' absence, although the Rangers were not necessarily prepared to have him play full time immediately, given he had only played 17 games above AA up to that point.
