Biographical Information[edit]

2B Jim Gabella was drafted in the 10th round of the 1976 amateur draft by the Chicago White Sox. He played four years in the low minors.

Gabella was apparently a high school and junior college coach from 1981 to 1985. He was the head coach at Broward Community College in 1984-1985. He then scouted for the Milwaukee Brewers from 1986 to 1988. In 1991, he coached the Colorado Springs Sky Sox and in 1992 coached the Canton-Akron Indians. Gabella moved to the Montreal Expos for two years, scouting and managing in 1995-1996. He returned to the Cleveland Indians as a scout from 1997 to 2003. He signed Gary Sheffield and Matt Whitney. He has been a scout for the Giants since 2014.

Gabella's son Cody Gabella has played and coached in the minors.
