Biographical Information[edit]

Jayson Bass played in the minor leagues, KBO and CPBL.

Bass was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the 5th round of the 1993 Amateur Draft, and he hit .210/.304/.395 for the Bristol Tigers in his first year. He had a .272/.366/.469 batting line in 1994 for the Jamestown Jammers, and he crushed 10 homers with a .215/.291/.370 batting line for the Fayetteville Generals in 1995. Bass improved to .231/.351/.403 for the Generals in 1996, then he recorded a .258/.331/.431 batting line with 130 strikeouts for the Lakeland Tigers in 1997. The Seattle Mariners then selected him in the 1997 Rule V Draft, and Bass crushed 21 homers with 31 steals and a .288/.358/.546 batting line for the Lancaster JetHawks in 1998. He was 4th in homers (3 behind A.J. Leday and Tim Flaherty), 8th in RBI (between Pete Paciorek and Jason Regan) and 6th in steals (tied with Dionys Cesar) in the California League.

In 1999, Bass crushed 21 homers again for the New Haven Ravens, and his batting line was .265/.370/.487 with 34 steals. He ranked 9th in homers (tied with Donny Leon) and 6th in steals (between Reggie Taylor and Mo Bruce) in the Eastern League. Bass then signed with the Haitai Tigers, and he had a .271/.368/.492 batting line in 2000 KBO. The Chicago Cubs then signed him, and Bass batted .309/.371/.463 for the West Tenn Diamond Jaxx while having a .327/.402/.518 batting line with the AAA Iowa Cubs in 2001. He stayed in Iowa in 2002, and he crushed 21 homers with a .286/.365/.485 batting line.

Bass then went to Mexico, and he blasted 15 homers with a .312/.421/.516 batting line for the Saltillo Saraperos in 2003. He also played 14 games for the Winnipeg Goldeyes in that season, and his batting line was .281/.328/.368. Bass spent his next two seasons in Saltillo, and he hit .350/.455/.633 in 30 games for the Acereros de Monclova in 2006. The Uni-President Lions then signed him, but Bass only played 8 games with a 6-for-24 record for them in 2006 CPBL and he was released. He hit .353/.456/.659 with 15 homers in 28 games for the Nashua Pride and .366/.447/.610 in 11 games for the Long Island Ducks after leaving Taiwan. Bass then played 2 seasons in the Mexican Winter League, and his professional career ended.
