Saltillo, Coahuila has had a team in the Mexican League since 1970, but the Saraperos only won a pennant once, in 1980 until they took titles in 2009 and 2010. Minor league baseball historians Bill Weiss and Marshall Wright rank the '79 Saltillo team (95-40 in the regular season) as the greatest in the Mexican League in the 20th century (during its time as a minor league). Andres Mora was a key leader of both the '79 and '80 teams. Prior to '70, the Saraperos name was used by clubs in the Central Mexican League in 1956-57 and Mexican Center League (1967-1969).
