Biographical Information[edit]

Jared Lakind has played in the minors.

Lakind hit had a 2.33 ERA as a high school junior and hit .316 then batted .404/.523/.764 as a senior. The Pittsburgh Pirates took him in the 23rd round of the 2010 amateur draft, two rounds before Casey Sadler; the scout was Trevor Haley. He was 3 for 14 with a walk and a double for the 2010 GCL Pirates, though he struck out 7 times. He hit .148/.264/.287 for the 2011 GCL Pirates and .169/.235/.210 for the 2012 State College Spikes.

Pittsburgh then moved him to the mound. He was 202 with a 4,56 ERA for the Jamestown Jammers in 2013. In 2014, he pitched for Jamestown (2 Sv, 0.82 in 8 G) and the West Virginia Power (0-1, 4.44 in 17 G). The next year, he was 2-1 with a 2.29 ERA in 15 games for the Power and pitched seven shutout innings for the GCL Pirates, going 1-0. He spent all of 2016 with the Altoona Curve, going 5-1 with 7 saves and a 2.59 ERA. His 47 games pitched were 9th in the Eastern League and tied Trey Haley and Dovydas Neverauskas for third among Pirates farmhands.

Pitching for the Israeli national team in the 2017 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, he relieved Corey Baker with a 1-0 lead against defending entry Brazil in the top of the 6th. He walked Irait Chirino, got Leonardo Reginatto to hit into a force and walked Dante Bichette Jr. while Reginatto stole third. He rebounded to strike out both Luis Paz and JC Muniz to escape the threat. In the 7th, he was replaced by Jeremy Bleich. Israel held on for a 1-0 win and wound up with a spot in the 2017 World Baseball Classic, their first World Baseball Classic.
