Biographical Information[edit]

Ivri Margolin has pitched for the Israeli national team.

Margolin was 1-1 with a 3.50 ERA in the 2021 U-18 European Championship, fanning 13 in 8 innings. He beat Lithuania and lost to Italy. He was fifth in the event in strikeouts. [1] He was then Israel's youngest player at the 2021 European Championship, 24 years younger than staffmate Shlomo Lipetz. [2] The southpaw was not given a bit role, either. He got the start against the British national team, with a win putting Israel into the winner's bracket. He struck out indy league veteran Kent Blackstone and Padres draftee Gabriel Rincones Jr. then got another indy league vet, Alex Crosby, on a fly. In the second, he walked Grant Kerry and Shamoy Christopher but Ben Andrews flew out, Kerry was caught stealing and Aaron Singh flew out. In the third, he fanned Kennard Dawson and Zach Stroman then Blackstone flew out. He began the fourth by walking Rincones; after Crosby flew out, Orr Gottlieb relieved and let in the inherited runner. He had left Israel with a 5-0 lead but had not lasted enough to get the win, which went to D.J. Sharabi. Israel made it to the Gold Medal Game for the first time and he got to close out their 9-4 loss to the powerful Netherlands. Relieving Lipetz with two out in the eighth, he walked AAA vet Juremi Profar and got Junior Martina on a fly. He finished the Euros with a 2.45 ERA as Israel claimed the Silver for its first European Championship medal. [3] He was in the Israeli Defense Forces as an elite athlete. [4]
