Biographical Information[edit]

Ibrahim Shalabi was named the All-Star third baseman in the 2023 West Asia Baseball Cup, hitting over .500. [1] In the 2023 Asian Championship, he hit 5th and played third base. He was retired by Hong Kong's Chun-Pui Mok his first time up. His first hit was a single off South Korea's Dong-hyeok Kim to prevent his team from being no-hit that game. He made one start on the hill, versus Pakistan. He retired the first six (Wasim Akram, Jibran Aman Murtaza, Raees Bashir, Sameer Ahmed Khatri, Muhammad Hussain and Muhammad Zakir) before Umair Imdad Bhatti doubled. He finished with six hits, five walks and six runs (three earned) in 5 2/3 IP, striking out one (Akram); Muhammad Abdelfattah relieved and Shalabi took the loss to Muhammad Amjad Aslam. He finished the event at .286/.375/.286 and a 4.76 ERA, fielding .727. He tied Dylan Renard for the team lead in hits (4), had their second-best ERA (after Steve Mufareh) and tied Jennald Pareja and Hoi-Ting Cheng for 4th in the event in miscues (3). [2]
