Biographical Information[edit]

Muhammad Abdelfattah was the youngest member of the Palestine American baseball team that represented the long-defunct British territory of Palestine in the 2023 Asian Championship; like most of the team, he was from the Chicago area. Yousef Abbasi was their next youngest-player, born about six months prior. Abdelfattah debuted against host Taiwan as a late substitute in right field and struck out against Tzu-Chiang Li to end the game. He started on the mound against Bronze Medal winner South Korea and Hyeon-gon Ryu. He retired Jun-jae Jeong and Jun-young Jeong to open the day, walked Ju-chan Park and got Rog-yeol Yoh to hit into a force for a shutout first. In the second, a walk, an error and a two-run single ended the shutout. He then unraveled in the third with four walks, two hits and being charged with eight more runs; David Powres took over and Abdelfattah got the loss. He also replaced Ibrahim Shalabi in the 6th against Pakistan, giving up two hits, two walks and four runs (three earned) in 1 1/3 IP before Adam Musa relieved. He was second in the event in runs allowed (3 behind Suppakorn Lin), tied for 6th in earned runs and tied for the most walks (with Lin, Phanuwat Sukmuang and Muhammad Zohaib). [1]
