Biographical Information[edit]
Wasim Akram played for the Pakistani national team in the 2023 Asian Championship. He was the cleanup hitter and center fielder in their opening loss to tournament champion Japan. He struck out against Mizuki Kato his first time up but singled off Raiku Katayama later for one of his team's three hits that day. He had at least one hit and one run in their other four games, and homered off Hong Kong's Chun-Pui Mok. He finished at .350/.333/.550 with four runs and three RBI in five games, going 2-for-2 in steals and fielding very well (10 PO, 2 A, 0 E). He tied for 5th in the event and led his team with 7 hits, tied Chen-Fei Lin and Tsz-Yin Jordan Wen for 4th in total bases (11),tied Umair Imdad Bhatti for the team lead in runs and tied for the tourney lead in dingers. Only Fazal Ur Rehman had a better OPS for Pakistan. [1]
