Biographical Information[edit]

Jibran Murtaza played for the Pakistani national team in the 2023 Asian Championship. The teenager debuted against Japan, batting 9th and playing DH. He struck out against Mizuki Kato his first at-bat. His first hit was off Thailand's Suppakorn Lin. He finished at .167/.350/.167 with four walks and three runs in four games; he tied Muhammad Younas for third on his team in runs while only Raees Bashir had more walks for them. In addition to DH and 2B, he also pitched two games. Against the Philippines, he relieved Muhammad Zohaib in the bottom of the 8th with a 2-2 tie, two on and no outs. He walked Mark Manaig and struck out Iggy Escano but Ferdinand Liguayan Jr. singled in the inherited runners. He whiffed Clarence Caasalan and Jon-Jon Robles to end his day. He hit four batters and allowed three runs in 1 2/3 IP in a loss to Hong Kong's Lai-Him Lam. Only Chun-Pui Mok and Lin hit more batters in the event.
