1969-1970 Cuban National League
(Redirected from IX Serie Nacional)
The 1969-1970 season was the ninth season of Cuba's national baseball system.
Serie Nacional[edit]
Henequeneros, managed by Miguel Ángel Domínguez, won ninth Serie Nacional. They beat out the Mineros by 1.5 games while Industriales finished fourth at 43 – 22, the team's worst finish to date. The teams played a shorter 66-game schedule, versus 99 over the previous two seasons, due to the staging of the 89-game Serie 10 Millones in the late-spring and early-summer.
"El Hombre Hit," Wilfredo Sánchez continues to dominate the league in hitting, leading it in batting average, runs scored and base hits. Over both seasons Sánchez hits .360; 214 hits in 595 at-bats. Sánchez along with fellow Henequeneros teammates Rigoberto Rosique and Félix Isasi, both 25, are nicknamed Los Tres Mosqueteros - The Three Musketeers.
