Biographical Information[edit]
Fred Flook played a year of football at Baker before an injury, then was a catcher on the Emporia State squad. He taught science at Coldwater High School, then coached basketball, football, and track at Stanley High School in 1962. [1]
Flook was head baseball coach at William Jewell College for 34 years (1963-1970, 1976-2001), leading the school to 23 conference titles during that span. Under his leadership, the school won the 1968 NAIA College World Series. He also took the school to the NAIA College World Series in 1967, 1970, 1976, 1977, 1980, 1981, and 1983. He also coached soccer and wrestling at William Jewell and was assistant coach in football. In 2000, he was inducted into the school's Hall of Fame.
Flook resigned from Jewell in May 1970, then went to Emporia State College to get his master's degree. He then coached Crowder College baseball and wrestling in 1974-1975 before returning to Jewell.
