Biographical Information[edit]

Danny Hernández pitched in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team.

He was in the Minnesota Twins chain. He was 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA for the 2005 GCL Twins, walking 17 in 21 1/3 IP. With the '06 Elizabethton Twins, he had a 1-1, 3.81 record, saving 18 games with 40 K:9 BB in 28 1/3 innings. He led the Twins chain in saves, four ahead of Pat Neshek and Levale Speigner. He also led the Appalachian League in saves, seven more than runner-up Nathan Bunton. He was named the All-Star relief pitcher in the loop. [1]

Making his Venezuelan Winter League debut, he had a 4.91 ERA in five outings for the Tigres de Aragua. He only pitched 7 games for the 2007 Beloit Snappers (2-0, 3.38), so presumably he was injured. In 2008, he struggled for Beloit (0-2, 7.98 in 26 G) and the Fort Myers Miracle (0-1, 7.45 in 9 G). He was 0-1 with 3 runs (2 earned) in 3 innings for Aragua in 2008-2009.

After allowing six runs (five earned) in five innings for Beloit in 2009, his minor league career was over. He resurfaced a decade later with the Navegantes del Magallanes, going 2-0 with a 5.93 ERA. He had a 5.40 ERA for them the next winter and gave up 3 runs in 2 innings in 2021-2022. In the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he made one appearance for the Bronze Medal winners. Versus Mexico, he relieved Carlos Chourio in the 3rd with a 6-0 deficit, two on and two out. He gave up a single to Fernando Villegas Jr. but retired Víctor Mendoza to escape further damage. Rainel Rosario opened the 4th with a hit and Emmanuel Ávila flew out. After a wild pitch, Jasson Atondo grounded out and Moisés Gutiérrez was intentionally walked. Alexis Wilson flew out and Danny again escaped a jam as Randy Romero flew out. After Norberto Obeso doubled to open the 5th, Villegas walked. Ángel León relieved and let both inherited runners score.
