Biographical Information[edit]

Moisés Gutiérrez has played in Mexico and for the Mexican national team.

He debuted with the 2011 Sultanes de Monterrey, playing two games but not batting; he scored one run and had an assist at second base. He next surfaced with them in 2014, still a teenager; he hit .246/.290/.262 in 71 plate appearances over 47 games as a utility infielder. He was 0 for 1 in '15. Moving to the Broncos de Reynosa in 2016, he hit .270/.311/.354 as their primary backup middle infielder. He represented Mexico in the 2016 U-23 Baseball World Cup. Back with the Sultanes in 2017, he batted .279/.333/.424.

In the winter of 2017-2018, he played for the Venados de Mazatlán (.263/.295/.316 in 26 G) and the Yaquis de Obregón (.328/.371/.535 in 13 G). Mexico went to a two-season format for 2018. In the spring season, he was with Monterrey (4-for-23, BB, 2 2B) and the Generales de Durango (.407/.443/.714, 21 R in 23 G). With Durango for the fall season, he hit .292/.342/.537 with 47 RBI in 54 games, homering 12 times. He was 7th in the Mexican League in dingers and was 6th in RBI. In the winter, he fell to .207/.281/.264 for the Yaquis.

Gutiérrez produced at a .266/.320/.456 line with 27 doubles, 18 homers and 91 RBI for the Generales in 2019, fielding .985 at 2B. With the Algodoneros de Guasave that winter, he hit .247/.326/.367. The 2020 LMB season was wiped out by the COVID-19 pandemic. In the winter, he hit .231/.283/.330 between the Yaquis and the Mayos de Navojoa. When the LMB returned in 2021, he struggled at .244/.318/.342 for Durango. He was only 2-for-29 with a walk and a double for the 2021-2022 Mayos.

In 2022, he hit .337/.408/.617 with 19 homers and 74 runs in 82 games for the Diablos Rojos del México. He tied for 8th in the circuit in runs. In the winter, he again struggled with Navojoa (.167/.222/.238). The next summer, his batting line was .280/.376/.535 for the Diablos Rojos with 70 RBI in 72 games, going deep 16 times. He also represented Mexico in two international tournaments that year. In the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games, he started at second as Mexico won Gold for their first Gold in an international baseball tournament, 97 years after their debut in the 1926 Central American Games. He singled off Cuba's Carlos Viera his first time up and finished at .235/.278/.353 while handling 24 chances error-free. [1] He got a second medal, a Bronze, in the 2023 Pan American Games. He batted .267/.389/.333 with three runs in six games in those Games, fielding .895. [2]
