He began to make strides in 2018; the 22-year-old batted .319/.347/.354 for Campeche in the spring season and .250/.319/.288 in the fall. He then had a very good winter for Hermosillo despite again backing up, playing behind Luis Jimenez at 3B and Danny Espinosa at SS and also being third-string at 2B. He hit .351/.376/.398 with 39 runs in 61 games while making very few errors. He lost the Mexican Pacific League batting title by one point to Francisco Peguero despite not having a set position. He was 10th in OBP, 5th in runs and led in hits (81, one ahead of MVP Manny Rodriguez). [1] He easily won the Rookie of the Year award, with 78.6% of the vote. [2]

A late addition to the Mexican team for the 2019 Pan American Games Qualifier, he went 1 for 7 with a run and a RBI while splitting time with Javier Salazar. His lone hit came off Brazil's Igor Januário. [3]
