Biographical Information

Daniel Stange made his MLB debut in 2010.

Stange allowed 15 runs in 10 2/3 IP as a college freshman, with 19 hits and 10 walks. In 2005, the sophomore was 0-1 with a save and a 6.38 ERA, allowing 35 hits in 24 innings. For the 2006 campaign, he went 2-4 with 11 saves and a 3.73 ERA. The Arizona Diamondbacks took him in the 7th round of the 2006 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Mark Baca.

Daniel made his pro debut with the Missoula Osprey, going 5-2 with 13 saves and a 4.25 ERA in 2006, whiffing 48 in 36 innings. He led the Pioneer League in saves. In 2007, he was 4-5 with 16 saves and a 3.19 ERA for the Visalia Oaks, striking out 53 in 42 1/3 innings. Promoted to AA, he was 1-0 with a save and a 5.40 ERA for the Mobile BayBears. The Orange native tied Chad Rhoades for the California League in saves and allowed a .230 average in a hitter's league. He had Tommy John surgery that winter.

Stange missed half of 2008 due to recuperation from his surgery. He returned to go 1-0 with a save and a 1.59 ERA for the South Bend Silver Hawks and 1-2 with a 3.95 ERA for Visalia. Overall, he struck out 31 in 30 2/3 innings and allowed a .193 average.

Daniel spent all of 2009 with Mobile, where he was 0-4 with 10 saves and a 4.88 ERA while allowing a .316 average to both lefties and righties. He was put on Arizona's 40-man roster in the off-season. He started 2010 strong with the Reno Aces and got called up along with Kevin Mulvey when Leo Rosales and Kris Benson went on the disabled list.

In his MLB debut, he relieved Ian Kennedy in the 9th inning of a 13-5 win over the Cubs. He got Alfonso Soriano, Mike Fontenot and Geovany Soto in order to finish up the victory.

Stange has been the head coach at University of Saint Katherine since 2016 and athletic director since 2017. He remained head coach through 2022.
