Biographical Information[edit]

Clint Weibl pitched in the minor leagues and CPBL.

Weibl was drafted by the Houston Astros in the 59th round of the 1994 Amateur Draft and the San Diego Padres in the 29th round of the 1995 Amateur Draft, but he did not sign either time. The St. Louis Cardinals then took him in the 37th round of the 1996 Amateur Draft. He was 4-1 with a 2.05 ERA in his first season for the Johnson City Cardinals, and he also went 1-2 with a 4.85 ERA for the Peoria Chiefs. Weibl then had a 12-11 record with a 4.64 ERA for the Prince William Cannons in 1997, tying Bronson Arroyo for the Carolina League lead in wins. He was also 4th with 135 K, between John Ambrose and Scott Randall. Among Cards farmhands, only Cliff Politte had more wins and only Politte and Corey Avrard had more strikeouts (both had 9 more).

He was 12-10 with a 5.37 ERA for the Arkansas Travelers in 1998. He tied Rick Ankiel and Sean Lowe for 3rd in the St. Louis system in wins and tied Danny Kolb for 3rd in the Texas League. He went 4-9 with a 5.40 ERA for the Travelers in 1999, and he also had a 5.40 ERA in 5 games with the AAA Memphis Redbirds. In 2000, Weibl was 3-3 with a 4.74 ERA for the Travelers, and he improved to 9-4 with a 2.83 ERA in Memphis. He won the ERA title of the 2000 Pacific Coast League, .86 ahead of Matt Wise, but Ryan Franklin beat him out as the league's All-Star RHP. He was second among Cards minor leaguers in wins (trailing Bud Smith) and strikeouts (143, 10 shy of Les Walrond). Despite his success, he did not even get a September call-up to the big leagues.

He only pitched 2 games in 2001 (presumably due to injury), then he went 5-8 with a 3.50 ERA in 2002. Weibl had a 3-6 record with a 3.53 ERA with the Redbirds in 2003, then he became a free agent. He went to the Long Island Ducks, and he was 4-1 with a 4.44 ERA to close out the summer. He was 2-1 with a 3.55 ERA with the Ducks in 2004, and Milwaukee Brewers signed him with a minor league contract. Weibl was 4-3 with a 3.94 ERA for the Indianapolis Indians, and he had a 2-5 record with a 5.15 ERA for the Nashville Sounds in 2005. The Sinon Bulls of Taiwan then signed him, and he was 6-4 with a 3.58 ERA in 2006. He was released in July 25, and his professional career ended.
