Wang represented Taiwan in the 1987 World Port Tournament. The Uni-President Lions signed him when they were founded, and Wang set several records in the first year of the CPBL. He was the first player to blast a homer, and he did it on March 17 against Yung-Chang Chang. He also committed the first error of the CPBL, and he became the first player to collect 3 hits in the same game. On July 26, Wang, Keng-Yu Chen and Rick Bernardo completed the first triple play of the league. Wang was also selected into the 1990 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 0-for-7. The Tainan native hit .237/.286/.276 in 1991, and he attended the 1991 CPBL All-Star Game; he was 1-for-6. In the 1991 Taiwan Series, Wang was 0-for-12 and the Lions still beat the Wei-Chuan Dragons in 7 games. He set a Taiwan Series record for most at-bats without a hit, and Chun-Yu Huang broke it in 1999. Wang's batting line was .255/.352/.324 in 1992, and he set the CPBL record for most sacrifice bunts in a season with 33. He hit .239/.352/.283 in 1993, but he was diagnosed with brain tumor and his professional career suddenly ended. Wang coached the Lions in 2004.
