Biographical Information

Infielder Christopher Bostick was signed by scout Matt Higginson for the Oakland A's in the 44th round of the 2011 amateur draft, but managed to escape his lowly start in professional ball and established himself as a prospect within two years. In fact, he immediately caught the attention of A's brass in his pro debut, as he hit a scorching .442 in 14 games with the AZL Athletics in 2011. In 2012, he was assigned to the Vermont Lake Monsters of the New York-Penn League and had a fine first season, hitting .251 with 16 doubles and 41 runs scored in 70 games. He split time between second base and shortstop, but in 2013 he was a full-time second baseman when he played 129 games for the Beloit Snappers pf the Midwest League at age 20, hitting .282/.354/.452, with 25 doubles, 8 triples and 14 homers. He scored 75 runs and drove in 89 in a season that established him as a player to watch. One team in particular saw him perform well that year, the Texas Rangers, as they acquired him on December 3rd along with another solid prospect, outfielder Michael Choice, in return for two established major leaguers, outfielder Craig Gentry and pitcher Josh Lindblom.

Bostick spent 2014 with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans of the Carolina League, hitting .251/.322/.412 in 130 games. He scored 81 runs and collected 31 doubles, 8 triples and 11 homers, driving in 62 runs as the team's second baseman. He was on the move again after the season, moving to the Washington Nationals on December 12th, along with another prospect, Abel De Los Santos, in return for pitcher Ross Detwiler. Bostick was designated for assignment by the Nationals after the 2016 season, then a week later, on September 26th, was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in return for catcher Taylor Gushue. He began the 2017 season with the AAA Indianapolis Indians and a month later, on May 8th, was called up to Pittsburgh to make his debut. It was part of a reshuffling as Pittsburgh needed bench help with Adam Frazier injured and Phil Gosselin and John Jaso struggling; he and Max Moroff were called up while Gosselin and Elias Diaz were sent down. He replaced pitcher Trevor Williams as part of a double switch in the bottom of the 4th, taking over in left field for Gregory Polanco while Josh Lindblom, who Bostick was once dealt for, came in to pitch against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Christopher stayed until the end of the game - a 12-1 loss - and went 0 for 2, striking out both times. In limited action (20 games), he batted .296/.406/.370. Following 2 fruitless big league games with the Bucs, he was DFAed and claimed by the Miami Marlins in 2018, batting .214/.313/.286 in 13 games for the Fish. After the season, he became a free agent and spent the 2019 season in the Baltimore Orioles system.
