Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Abel de los Santos was signed by the Texas Rangers as a 17-year-old before the 2010 season. He spent 2010 with the DSL Rangers, going 3-3, 1.85 as a starter. He moved to the United States in 2011, with the AZL Rangers, where he was 7-1, 3.67. After this promising debut, he suffered a setback in 2012, with a record of 3-5, 5.81 with the Spokane Indians of the Northwest League. He repeated the level in 2013, this time as a reliever, and went 4-1, 3.48. He was again a reliever in 2014, starting the season with the Hickory Crawdads of the South Atlantic League and finishing it in the Advanced Class A Carolina League, with the Myrtle Beach Pelicans. He went a combined 5-3, 1.92, with 8 saves, striking out 65 in 56 1/3 innings.

On December 12, 2014, he was traded to the Washington Nationals along with his Myrtle Beach teammate, 2B Chris Bostick, in return for major league P Ross Detwiler. He made his major league debut with the Nationals midway through the 2015 season.
