Biographical Information[edit]

IF Philip Gosselin was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 5th round of the 2010 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Billy Best and made his pro debut that summer. He reached the major leagues with the Braves late in the 2013 season.

On June 20, 2015, while he was on the disabled list, he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks in return for P Bronson Arroyo, who was also injured at the time, and pitching prospect Touki Toussaint. He hit .303 in 24 games for Arizona, after starting out hitting .325 in 20 games for Atlanta, giving him an excellent BA of .311 on the year. In 2016, he played 122 games for the D-Backs, with a .277 average, 2 homers and 13 RBIs. On February 10, 2017, he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for AAA pitcher Frank Duncan. He was expected to take over for Sean Rodriguez as the Pirates' principal utility player.
