Biographical Information[edit]

Chi-Feng Chen has been an infielder and coach in Taiwan.

Chen played for the Brother Hotels team and also played in the 1988 Haarlem Baseball Week and 1990 Haarlem Baseball Week before the Chinese Professional Baseball League was founded. When that league began play in 1990, Chen remained with Brother, now the Brother Elephants. He was 3 for 14 that first year. In 1991, he hit .221/.266/.252 and fielded .906, primarily playing 2B. He was only 5 for 32 with a double in 1992, 8 for 33 in 1993 and 4 for 34 with a double and a homer in 1994. He hit .253/.255/.263 as a bench player in 1995. In 1996, he became a semiregular for the Elephants, batting .230/.256/.302 in 89 games in a utility role. He ended his run with the Elephants in 1997, hitting .238/.265/.255 and fielding .949. He was then traded to the Uni-President Lions for Shih-Hsien Wu.

Chen produced at a .241/.291/.270 clip and fielded .955 for the Lions in 1998, alternating between 2B and 3B. He made the All-Star Game for the first time; he would repeat as an All-Star in the next two years. In 1999, his batting line remained very steady at .241/.296/.285 and he fielded .957, now starting at 2B for the Lions. During 2000, Chen fell to .208/.250/.266. In 2001, he hit .276/.324/.343, but now was a backup infielder. He ended his career with a meek 7-for-58 in 2002. Chen then became a coach, with the Lions (2003-2006) and Elephants (2007 CPBL-2011). He was interim manager of the Elephants for two games in 2010, going 1-1. He was infield coach for the Taiwan national team in the 2013 World Baseball Classic Qualifiers, 2012 Asian Championship and 2013 World Baseball Classic.

Overall, Chen had hit .228/.270/.268 with 423 hits and fielded .945 in 795 CPBL games.
