Biographical Information[edit]

Chi-Che Tsai pitched in the CPBL.

Tsai was drafted by the CTBC Brothers in the fourth round of the 2017 CPBL Draft, but he only pitched 2 games in his rookie year. He was 2-6 with a 8.01 ERA in 2018, then he had a 6.30 ERA with a 2-6 record in 2019. In the 2019 Taiwan Series, he allowed a run in an inning in both Game 2 and 4, then he surrendered 2 runs in 2 innings in Game 5. The Lamigo Monkeys beat the Brothers in 5 games. Tsai was then turned into a reliever in 2020, and he recorded a 3.51 ERA with 12 holds in 52 appearances. He ranked 10th in games pitched (tied with Wei-Yung Wang) and 6th in holds (tied with Chun-Yen Huang and Hung-Cheng Lai). In the 2020 Taiwan Series, he pitched a shutout inning in Game 5, then he relieved Chun-Wei Wu in the 8th inning of Game 6. Tsai walked Tzu-Chieh Lin and gave up a RBI single to Dai-An Lin then Bo-Hao Chen replaced him. The Uni-President Lions beat the Brothers in 7 games.

The Taitung native had a 2.45 ERA in 56 appearances in 2021, and he notched 20 holds. He was 5th in appearances (2 behind Junichi Tazawa and Lai) and 4th in holds (between Chun-Jen Cheng and Wei-Cheng Lu). In the 2021 Taiwan Series, Tsai pitched a shutout inning in Game 2, and he collected a hold with another shutout inning in Game 3. The Brothers swept the Lions, and Tsai won his first title. Due to the overuse, Tsai stayed in the minor league for most of the 2022 season, and he only pitched 19 games with a 3.37 ERA. He collected a hold in 2022 Taiwan Series Game 1 with a shutout inning, and he pitched a shutout inning in his other appearance to help the Brothers sweep the Rakuten Monkeys. Tsai bounced back as he pitched 49 games in 2023, and he also notched 17 holds. He was 10th in appearances (tied with Hao-Chun Chiu) and 5th in holds (tied with Enderson Franco).

Tsai's repertoire includes a fastball (peak 95.6 mph), knuckle curve, changeup and slider.
