Biographical Information[edit]

Chun-Yen Huang pitched in the CPBL.

Huang was selected by the Uni-President Lions in the fifth round of the 2017 CPBL Draft, and he soon became an important part of their bullpen as a rookie. He had a solid 2.89 ERA in 42 appearances, and he notched 8 holds and 2 saves. Huang fanned 3 in 2 shutout innings in the 2018 Taiwan Series Game 1, but he allowed 2 runs in 1/3 of a inning in Game 4. The Lamigo Monkeys beat the Lions in 6 games. Huang then slumped to a 5.60 ERA in 30 games in 2019, then he pitched 61 games with a 4.31 ERA and 12 holds in 2020. He was 3rd in appearances (between Yu-Hsun Chen and Chun-Chang Su) and 7th in holds (tied with Chi-Che Tsai and Hung-Cheng Lai). In the 2020 Taiwan Series, he pitched 2 shutout innings to get the win in Game 1, but he allowed 3 runs in 2/3 of a inning in Game 4 and got the loss. He then relieved Teddy Stankiewicz in the 7th inning of Game 7, and he retired Szu-Chi Chou to end this inning. The Lions beat the CTBC Brothers, and Huang won his first Taiwan Series title.

The Taitung native suffered from a right elbow injury in 2021, so he only pitched 9 games with a 5.87 ERA. He then came back in 2022, and his ERA was 3.86 in 23 appearances. Huang pitched 25 games with a 4.13 ERA in 2023.

Huang's repertoire includes a fastball (peak 93.2 mph), curveball and slider.
