Biographical Information[edit]

Dai-An Lin has caught in the CPBL. His brother Chia-Feng Lin and cousin Tzu-Wei Lin have played pro ball, Tzu-Wei Lin in the majors. [1]

Lin hit .250/.300/.357 and fielded .983 for the Taiwanese team that won the 2010 World Junior Championship, with six RBI in seven games. [2] He was on Taiwan's squad in the 2014 Haarlem Baseball Week and was the All-Star catcher in the 2014 U-21 Baseball World Cup. [3] He also was in the 2015 Universiade. [4] He was a 4th-round pick of the Uni-President Lions in the 2015 CPBL Draft. [5] His first CPBL hit was off César Valdéz. [6] He hit .283/.295/.317 in 20 games in the 2015 CPBL and .301/.325/.425 in 120 plate appearances over 51 games in 2016, backing up Chih-Kang Kao. His first CPBL homer was against Scott Richmond. [7] He slipped to .222/.267/.283 in 108 PA in 2017 and .193/.203/.281 in 62 PA in 2018. He caught Ryan Verdugo's perfect game, the first CPBL perfecto. [8]

Becoming a starter in 2019, he hit .259/.295/.326 but dazzled on defense - he threw out 36 of 68 would-be base-stealers (53%) and fielded .995. Lin attended the 2019 CPBL All-Star Game, and he crushed a homer off Radhames Liz in the 6th inning of Game 1; he was 1-for-2 in Game 2. He won the CPBL Gold Glove. [9] He was at .246/.290/.392 in 2020 and fielded .993, but threw out 26%. Lin recorded a .263/.333/.316 batting line in the 2020 Taiwan Series, and the Lions beat the CTBC Brothers in 7 games. In 2021, he batted .276/.345/.343, fielded .996 and threw out 32%. He won his second Gold Glove and made the Best Ten as the top overall catcher in the league. [10] He eked out a .224/.277/.274 line and threw out 28%, fielding .985 in 2022. He still made Taiwan's roster for the 2023 World Baseball Classic; he didn't have a single at-bat. [11] Lin shared the starting spot with Chung-Yu Chen in 2023, and he hit .224/.272/.276 in 54 games.
