Jim Albright posted pics of some Japanese greats at http://www.baseball-fever.com/showthread.php?t=52223 - I'm not an image person. Does someone want to transfer them here? - --Mischa 08:25, 18 October 2006 (EDT)

We're up to 1,000 players! A fair number are stubs or incomplete but I'd guess that 50% are mostly complete - --Mischa 16:11, 5 June 2007 (EDT)

1,100. Slower growth as we've been focusing on other countries but it's starting to pick up again I think. - --Mischa 13:09, 3 November 2008 (EST)

1,250. 150 in 11 months is a big improvement over the 100 in 15 months we had in the last stretch. - --Mischa 11:55, 9 October 2009 (EDT)

1,400. 150 in the last 7 months - the pace is picking up. - --Mischa 12:55, 27 May 2010 (EDT)

Yataro Oishi brings us to 1,900 - --Mischa (talk) 11:53, 11 February 2014 (EST)

Takao Sato gets us to 2,100; keeping up the 100 per year pace for pretty much the past five years. - --Mischa (talk) 13:26, 1 January 2016 (EST)

How many guys have played in NPB total? How many more do we need to go before each of them have articles? Alex (talk) 17:50, 15 January 2016 (EST)

I'm guessing we're about halfway there, but that's just a very rough estimate. The fact that we just got a former home run king (Sato) means they're likely lots of bench warmers, let alone All-Stars, left. Checking the Michael Eng database, there were 8,162 players through 2012, so we're just over a quarter of the way. - --Mischa (talk) 09:05, 18 January 2016 (EST)

Yurisbel Gracial brings it to 2,200 here - --Mischa (talk) 14:41, 28 October 2018 (UTC)

Kaima Taira is #2,300 - Mischa (talk) 17:29, 23 December 2020 (UTC)

The 2,400th is Fujio Yamaguchi - Mischa (talk) 14:27, 30 October 2022 (UTC)

Up to 2,500. I think Ryan McBroom was #2,500 here. - Mischa (talk) 09:52, 9 May 2023 (UTC)

I had completed all Japanese player's Japanese name. Only two of them still missed High School, and there's still 55 stubs needed to fix. If anyone found a Japanese player without Japanese name, please inform me, I thought there's still someone I can't reach. (For example, Hirotami Kojima.) - Rugosa1134 (talk) 13:07, 14 June 2023 (UTC)

Hiroaki Suzuki‎ is the 2,600th - Mischa (talk) 13:23, 30 June 2023 (UTC)

To 2,700 with Masahiro Kimura - Mischa (talk) 16:48, 11 July 2023 (UTC)

I recently discovered this website:

https://sp.baseball.findfriends.jp/

That some members here might find useful. Many Japanese players are lacking death details on Baseball Reference; the aforementioned website helps provide some leads, as it has years of death for many players that BR still lists as alive.

To use the site, I would recommend translating to English, then scrolling to the "Player Data" search bar. There you can input any player's name, but it must be in the Japanese form. Alex (talk) 22:56, 19 July 2023 (UTC)

Enny Romero is the 2,800th - Rugosa1134 (talk) 06:28, 11 September 2023 (UTC)

The 2,900th is Seiya Hosokawa - Mischa (talk) 11:49, 24 October 2023 (UTC)

Hiroyuki Fukuyama‎ gets us to 3,000! - Mischa (talk) 12:52, 22 November 2023 (UTC)

Our 3,100th was Shinichiro Ihara - Mischa (talk) 17:02, 4 March 2024 (UTC)
