The Calgary Cannons began play in the Pacific Coast League in 1985 when the Salt Lake City Gulls relocated to Calgary, Alberta. They spent their first ten seasons as a Seattle Mariners farm club, then were allied with the Pittsburgh Pirates from 1995 to 1997. They were then a Chicago White Sox affiliate in 1998, before spending the next four years with the Florida Marlins. Among those to appear for the club were Edgar Martinez, Jay Buhner and Alex Rodriguez. Following the 2002 season, they moved and became the Albuquerque Isotopes.
