Biographical Information

Adam Heether played as high as AAA.

Heether was taken by the Colorado Rockies in the 31st round of the 2000 amateur draft out of high school and in the 28th round of the 2001 amateur draft out of junior college. He hit .355/.455/.511 with 55 runs in 54 games for Long Beach State in 2003. The Milwaukee Brewers chose him in the 11th round of the 2003 amateur draft; the scout was Bruce Seid. He split the summer between the AZL Brewers (0 for 11, 2 BB) and Beloit Snappers (.228/.313/.345 in 47 G). He was with Beloit for all of 2004, hitting .252/.313/.450 with 35 doubles and 17 home runs. He was third in the Midwest League in doubles behind Brian Dopirak and Alex Frazier and tied Vinny Rottino and Jordan Pickens for 7th in homers. His .944 fielding percentage led the league's third baseman.

Adam split 2005 between the Brevard County Manatees (.305/.386/.450 in 93 G) and Huntsville Stars (.314/.339/.412 in 14 G). He was 7th in the Florida State League in average, between Matt Kemp and Brent Clevlen. He was with the same two clubs in 2006, but his production fell drastically - .217/.330/.331 in 49 games for the Manatees and .213/.290/.250 in 70 for Huntsville. The Californian rebounded with Huntsville in 2007, producing at a .299/.371/.447 clip with 27 doubles. Making it to AAA with the Nashville Sounds, Heether moved from his former third base spot to a utility role, appearing at shortstop 53 times, third base 49 times, left field 12 times, second base 6 times and pitcher 3 times (3 R in 1 2/3 IP). He batted .272/.383/.446 with 64 walks, 31 doubles and 70 runs. He tied Doug Bernier for 10th in the 2008 Pacific Coast League in walks.

In 2009, Heether hit .293/.400/.501 with 29 doubles and 16 home runs for Nashville. He also played 9 games for Huntsville, going 13 for 40 with 3 doubles, 2 home runs and one walk. He was second in the Brewers chain in doubles (one behind Brendan Katin) and fourth in home runs. He tied Sean Rodriguez for 5th in the 2009 PCL in OBP and ranked 9th in OPS (between Dee Brown and Prentice Redman). In winter ball, he batted .214/.353/.371 for the Leones del Caracas. He began 2010 with Nashville, hitting .245/.343/.440 after 50 games. Waived by Milwaukee, he was picked up by the Oakland Athletics. He was assigned to the Sacramento River Cats but his struggles continued, as he hit only .228/.374/.303 in 49 games there.

Heether split 2011 between Sacramento (.153/.342/.203, 16 BB in 20 G) and the Midland RockHounds (.255/.367/.419 in 101 G), his first regular action in AA in four years. He moved to the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim chain for 2012, his final campaign.
