He was 2-3 with a 9.71 ERA as a college freshman but improved to 5-4, 4.57 as a sophomore; his 107 K were 4th in the Ohio Valley Conference. He continued to improve as a senior at 9-3, 4.19, leading the OVC in wins and second to Dylan King with 105 strikeouts (third-highest in school history).

Leasher was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 6th round of the 2017 Amateur Draft, and he went 1-2 with a 5.56 ERA for the AZL Padres 2 while having a 2.08 ERA in 4 games for the Tri-City Dust Devils in his first season. He was 5-5 with a 3.32 ERA in 2018 for the Fort Wayne TinCaps, and he pitched 4 games with a 4.29 ERA for the Lake Elsinore Storm. Leasher then went 10-8 with a 3.15 ERA in 2019, and had a 4.15 ERA in the postseason for the Amarillo Sod Poodles as they won the Texas League title. He tied Will Gaddis and Mitchell Jordan for second in the California League in wins and was second in ERA, .31 behind Ian McKinney. Among Padres farmhands, he tied Joey Cantillo, Jerry Keel and Dillon Overton for 4th in wins and tied Keel for 9th with 114 strikeouts.

The Michigan native didn't pitch in 2020 as the coronavirus shut down the minor leagues. He was 4-4 with a 2.56 ERA in 2021 for the San Antonio Missions, and he reached AAA that season; his ERA was 9.00 in 4 games for the El Paso Chihuahuas. Leasher had a 8-6 record with a 4.23 ERA for the Chihuahuas the next summer, tying Beau Burrows, Darren McCaughan and Peter Solomon for 8th in wins in the 2022 PCL and tying for the most victories by a San Diego minor leaguer. He appeared very close to The Show but slumped to 2-3 with a 6.49 ERA in 2023. He also had a solid 0.73 ERA in 12 1/3 innings for the Missions, and he was 1-2 with a 2.22 ERA for the Estrellas Orientales in the winter.

The Staten Island FerryHawks of the Atlantic League signed Leasher in 2024, and he pitched well there as he went 7-2 with a 2.21 ERA. The Fubon Guardians of Taiwan then bought out his contract on July 16, 2024.
