2006 Pacific League Most Valuable Player Award
The 2006 Pacific League Most Valuable Player Award went to Nippon Ham Fighters first baseman Michihiro Ogasawara, who hit .313/.397/.573 and led the league in homers (32), RBI (100, tied) and total bases. He was the first winner from Nippon Ham since Yutaka Enatsu 25 years prior and the first position player to win it for Nippon Ham. It was a very close race; he had 8 fewer first-place votes than Softbank Hawks ace Kazumi Saitoh but 23 more second-place votes to pass him in total vote points.
