The 2001 Serie A1 championship was won by Caffe Danesi Nettuno. They beat two-time defending champions Semenzato Rimini in the Italian Series. It was the 16th scudetto for Nettuno.

Ragalnà Paternò made their Serie A1 debut and finished tied for seventh place. Italeri Bologna RHP Yoshimune Wakita, the first Japanese to play in Serie A1, led the league in ERA and won 10 games. Former major leaguer Jim Vatcher of Rimini led the league in RBI's for the second straight year.
