The 2000 Serie A1 championship was won by Semenzato Rimini for the second consecutive year. The Pirates swept Caffe Danesi Nettuno in the Italian Series to capture their ninth scudetto. Two of Rimini's key players were former major leaguers RHP Don August and CF Jim Vatcher as well as future MLBer Jason Simontacchi. August won nine games and Vatcher led the league in RBI's.
