Biographical Information[edit]

Yunior Novoa has pitched as high as AAA; his brother Roberto Novoa played in the majors.

Novoa was signed by the Chicago White Sox in 2002. During 2003, he was 4-4 with a 5.49 ERA for the Bristol White Sox. He had 5 balks to tie for the Appalachian League lead. He was with Bristol (3-2, 3.58) and the Kannapolis Intimidators (3 R in 3 2/3 IP) in 2004. In 2005, he was just 1-7 with a 7.32 ERA and .324 opponent average for the Great Falls White Sox. He tied Robert Wooley for the Pioneer League loss lead, led with 58 runs allowed and was second to Aneury Rodriguez with 51 earned runs.

Let go by Chicago, he signed with the Washington Nationals. In 2006, he pitched for the DSL Nationals 2 (2-1, Sv, 0.76, 67 K, 3 BB in 35 1/3 IP), GCL Nationals (1-1, 1.74) and Vermont Lake Monsters (0-1, 7.36). The next summer, he had a 5-12, 4.22 record for the Hagerstown Suns. He tied T.J. Nall for the most losses by a Nationals farmhand and tied Nelson Portillo and Brian Steinocher for second in the South Atlantic League in defeats, 3 behind leader Jeremy Mizell. In 2008, he pitched for the Potomac Nationals (2-1, 4 Sv, 1.38 in 13 G) and Harrisburg Senators (2-1, 2.44 in 32 G). He held opponents to a .189 average for the year. His 45 games pitched tied Martin Beno and Tim Bittner for 8th in the Nats farm system.

Novoa split 2009 between Vermont (0-1, 2 Sv, 5.79 in 3 G), Harrisburg (1-2, 2 Sv, 3.99 in 19 G) and the Syracuse Chiefs (1-0, 3.66 in 19 G). He was back in Harrisburg in 2010 but struggled (0-5, Sv, 5.57) and was let go after 23 games. He was 5-5 with a 5.33 ERA for the independent Lancaster Barnstormers in 2011. He was a late addition to the Dominican national team for the 2011 Pan American Games. A LOOGY, he pitched one inning (2 H, 1 BB, 1 K, 0 R) over 3 games, tying his brother Roberto and Dario Veras (both former major leaguers) for the team lead in pitching appearances.

Yunior moved to the York Revolution in 2012 and posted a 2-6, 4.71 record. He was 5-2 with a 3.79 ERA in 43 games for York in 2013, with 60 K to 15 BB in 54 2/3 IP.
