Biographical Information[edit]

Roberto Novoa was signed by scout Pablo Cruz for the Pittsburgh Pirates in July 1999. He made his pro debut with the DSL Pirates the next summer. He was 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in the 2002 Intercontinental Cup, tying for 9th with 14 K (even with Jose Blanco, Chi-Hsien Ho and Chang-Wei Tu). He lost to Cuba's Ifreidi Coss but threw a complete game to beat Taiwan's Tu.

His brother Yunior Novoa was a teammate of his in the 2011 Pan American Games.
