Vicyohandri Odelín has usually been a .500 pitcher in Cuban league play but has done very well in international events and has been a member of the Cuban national team on and off since 2001. He throws a fastball, slider, changeup and forkball.

The right-hander went 12-5 with a save and a 2.54 ERA in the 2000-2001 Serie Nacional for Camagüey. Odelín was a star in the 2001 World Port Tournament, going 3-0 with a save and a 0.63 ERA. That earned him the Best Pitcher Award. In the 2001 Baseball World Cup, the 21-year-old was 1-0 with a 0.79 ERA and 16 strikeouts in 11 1/3 IP for the Gold Medal winners. He had the win in the Gold Medal game against the US, allowing one run in 4 2/3 IP.

In the 2001-2002 Serie Nacional, Odelín had a 12-7, 2.75 record. He tied for the most wins (4) in the 2002 Super Liga. He had a 1-0, 4.97 mark in the 2002 Intercontinental Cup but the short hurler whiffed 15 in 12 2/3 IP to place 8th in the event in strikeouts. During the 2002-2003 season, Vicyohandri won 9, lost 5, saved 3 and had a 2.38 ERA. He finished third in ERA behind Alay Soler and Adiel Palma. In the 2003 Pan American Games, he was 0-1 with a 6.00 ERA, taking a loss against Mexico. In the Olympic qualifiers, he shut out Panama in the final rounds to help Cuba advance to Athens. He also played in the 2003 Baseball World Cup, he was 1-0 with a 2.12 ERA and fanned 26 hitters in 17 innings while only walking 3. He led the tournament in strikeouts. He did not do as well in the Gold Medal game as he had in 2001, allowing solo homers to Luis Iglesias and Audes de Leon and leaving with a 2-2 tie and one out in the 4th; Norge Vera came on and rescued Cuba with shutout ball the rest of the way.

Odelín's record in the 2003-2004 Serie Nacional was 5-4, 3.82, yet he remained with Cuba for the 2004 Olympics. In the Athens Games, he went 0-1 with a 6.75 ERA in three games. The loss was Cuba's only one in those Olympics; in a round-robin phase contest against Japan, Vicyohandri allowed 4 runs in 3 innings in a 6-3 defeat to Daisuke Matsuzaka. Kenji Johjima, Kazuhiro Wada and Norihiro Nakamura all went deep against the right-hander that day. It would be two years before Odelín would return to the national team.

The Camagüey moundsman posted a 7-7, 3.16 record in 2004-2005 and 3-5, 3 Sv, 3.83 in 2005-2006. That year, he was back with the national squad for the 2006 World Baseball Classic. He struggled in the event, going 0-1 with a save and a 6.48 ERA. He tied Tao Bu for 5th in runs allowed (7), tied Jeff Francis and Calvin Maduro for 4th in earned runs allowed (6) and tied for 4th with 2 hit batsmen. He threw 7 1/3 shutout innings of relief in the 2006 Central American and Caribbean Games. In the 2006 COPABE qualifiers for the 2008 Olympics, Vicyohandri tossed 4 1/3 scoreless innings.

In the 2006-2007 Serie Nacional, the 26-year-old Odelín had a 8-6, 3.38 record with two saves. Through that season, his career record was 51-50 with 11 saves and a 2.93 ERA in the Cuban leagues.

He allowed 6 hits in 4 innings in the 2007 World Port Tournament but surrendered no runs and had one save. In 2007-2008, Vicyohandri had a 6-6, 3.92 record for Camagüey with only 47 strikeouts in 133 1/3 IP, a significant decline from the beginning of the decade. During the 2008 Haarlem Baseball Week, he was 1-1 with a 1.35 ERA. He was 1-1 with a 9.00 ERA for Cuba in the 2008 Olympics, posting the worst ERA on the staff. He got a relief win against Canada but was roughed up by the South Korean national team in Cuba's lone loss in the round-robin phase; they wound up with Silver.

Odelín had a 7-4, 3.58 record in 2008-2009.
