2001 World Port Tournament
The 2001 World Port Tournament was the ninth World Port Tournament and the fifth won by the Cuban national team. It was held from June 28 through July 8, 2001. In the Gold Medal game, Cuba beat the Dutch national team 7-2 behind the pitching of Faustino Corrales and 14 hits, including 3 by Osmani Urrutia. Cuba finished 9-0 and the Netherlands 5-4. Italy (3-5) finished third, followed by Taiwan (3-5) and the Michigan Monarchs (1-7).
