Biographical Information[edit]

Tsung-Fu Chen played in the CPBL for 8 years.

Chen was signed by the Sinon Bulls in 1999, and he hit .214/.249/.245 in 55 games in his rookie year. He only played 34 games in 2000, and his batting line was .283/.343/.283. As a top prospect of the league, Chen was selected into the 2001 CPBL All-Star Game, and he was 1-for-2. He ended up hitting .212/.238/.270 in 2001. He broke out in 2002, hitting .300/.345/.387 with a career-high 12 doubles. Had he qualified, he would ranked 8th in batting, between Chi-Feng Hung and Hua-Wei Tseng.

The Kaohsiung native never hit above .300 in the rest of his career, but he was still a solid infielder. He hit .256/.322/.333 in 2003, and he recorded a .381/.409/.429 batting line in the 2003 Taiwan Series. The Bulls lost to the Brother Elephants in 6 games. Chen's batting line was .249/.265/.282 in 2004, and he won his first Taiwan Series title as the Bulls beat the Uni-President Lions in 7 games; his batting line was .188/.222/.250. Chen repeated his performance in 2005, hitting .239/.271/.309 and the Bulls won the title again as they swept the Macoto Cobras in the 2005 Taiwan Series; Chen was 0-for-6. He only hit .195/.267/.247 in 2006, and he announced his retirement. He was a coach for Taiwan in the 2014 U-15 Baseball World Cup.

Overall, Chen hit .246/.287/.302 with 311 hits and 51 doubles in 8 seasons in the CPBL.
