- 1901 - Watty Lee throws the first shutout in the history of the American League (in its time as a major league), whitewashing the Boston Americans.
- 1960 - Don Cardwell becomes the first hurler to throw a no-hitter in his first game after being traded. Cardwell is making his debut with the Phillies.
- 1966 - Dick Drago and Darrell Clark, roommates with the Rocky Mount Leafs, both throw seven-inning no-hitters against the Greensboro Yankees in a doubleheader.
- 1981 - Len Barker (pictured) throws the ninth perfect game in MLB history, shutting down the Blue Jays, 3-0.
- 1998 - The Dodgers deal Mike Piazza and Todd Zeile to the Marlins for Gary Sheffield, Bobby Bonilla, Charles Johnson, Jim Eisenreich and Manuel Barrios in a blockbuster trade.
