7-inning no-hitter

From BR Bullpen

(Redirected from Seven-inning no-hitter)

A 7-inning no-hitter is a no-hitter that usually takes place in the first or second game of a minor league doubleheader, as those games are limited to seven innings. See the innings column on the Minor League No-Hitters page for a list of such no-nos.

In the major leagues, such a game can occur when a game is called early due to weather of to a curfew, or also if it is scheduled to last only seven innings as part of a doubleheader (something that was common in the Negro Leagues, and became a thing again as part of the special rules adopted in 2020 due to the Coronavirus pandemic). Such a no-hitter is not considered official under major league rules.
