- 1913 - For the first time, two Major League teams face off in an exhibition game in Japan. The Chicago White Sox beat the New York Giants, 9-4, at Keio University.
- 1921 - The New York Giants trade George Burns, Mike Gonzalez and cash to the Cincinnati Reds for Heinie Groh.
- 1976 - The Milwaukee Brewers trade George Scott and Bernie Carbo to the Boston Red Sox for Cecil Cooper.
- 1984 - The Chicago White Sox send last year's Cy Young Award winner, La Marr Hoyt, and two minor leaguers to the San Diego Padres for Ozzie Guillen (pictured), Tim Lollar, Bill Long and Luis Salazar.
- 1989 - In an exchange of closers, Randy Myers goes to the Cincinnati Reds and John Franco to the New York Mets. Cincinnati also gets Kip Gross and New York Don Brown.
