Biographical Information[edit]
Bill Long pitched a two-hitter on May 5, 1987 as a member of the Chicago White Sox against the New York Yankees. It was his first appearance and start of the season. The hits were two singles by Dan Pasqua. Joe Niekro also pitched a two-hitter in that game, but the White Sox won, 2-0.
After retiring, Long coached at Xavier University, McNicholas High School, and was pitching coach of the Elmira Pioneers in 1994.
