December 20: Today's featured birthday is that of Bill Laskey, who turns 67.
- 1967 - In a key 1967 AL pennant race game, RF Jose Tartabull throws out Ken Berry at home to give the Red Sox a crucial 4-3 win.
- 1975 - Craig Kusick (pictured) is hit by a pitch three times in a game, tying the major league record.
- 1980 - Springfield Redbirds coach Hub Kittle becomes the oldest player in an Organized Baseball game. The 63-year-old retires the side in the 1st inning and the first man he faces in the 2nd before leaving the game.
- 1982 - With Ted Simmons catching and Doc Medich pitching, Rickey Henderson steals his 119th base of the year, breaking Lou Brock's major league single-season record. Rickey adds three more later in the game.
- 2001 - Michihiro Ogasawara scores on a Yukio Tanaka double. It is the 17th straight game he had scored in, setting a new record in Nippon Pro Baseball. The old record had stood for 51 years.
