Biographical Information[edit]
Steve Anson has been a longtime college coach. Anson won the Big Eight Conference batting championship in 1974 with a .439 mark. He retired with the Kansas State University record with 19 triples. He was head coach at Wayne State College in 1979, going 23-22. He then became head coach at Washburn University of Topeka and went 714-639 in his first 29 seasons. In 2007, he became the 26th coach in NCAA Division II to top 700 wins.
Anson died at home in a tree-trimming accident on June 22, 2014.
