The Springfield (OH) Giants Moved from the Ohio State League to the Ohio-Indiana League in 1948.

In their first season they wound up with a 66-74 record, 16 1/2 games back and finished in fourth place. They lost in the playoffs to the first place Zanesville Dodgers 4 games to 0.

In 1949 they improved their record to 77-63, finishing in second place, 4 1/2 games back. They lost again in the play-offs, the third place Muncie Reds beating them 3 games to 1.

1950 saw them finishing in the fourth place spot, beating out the Muncie team by the slimest of margins, .005 of a percentage point. This was all to no avail as the first place Marion Red Sox beat them 3 games to 1 in the playoffs.

The League was on its last legs in 1951, starting with only five teams. They divided the season into two parts, Springfield finished third in the first half and second in the last half to give them an overall 61-67 record for the year. A play-off was held and the Marion crew took the Giants, 4 games to 0.

The League did not operate in 1952 and it became Springfield Ohio's last year in Organized Professioal Baseball.
