Biographical Information[edit]

Simon Andersson has pitched in the Elitserien and for the Swedish national team.

He debuted for the Karlskoga Bats in 2013, going 1-0 with a 5.00 ERA. [1] In 2014, he was 3 for 26 with 7 walks but did not bat. [2] In the 2015 European Junior Championship, he beat Great Britain, finishing 1-0 with a 1.12 ERA despite 8 walks in 8 innings. [3] He was 2-1 with a 4.73 ERA in the '15 Elitserien, finishing 6th in wins. [4] He was on the Swedish squad for the 2015 B-Level European Championship but did not enter a game; they won the tournament. [5]

Andersson was with the Vienna Emporers in the 2016 Collegiate Baseball League Europe, posting a 3-0, 2.48 record. [6] That summer, he was 1-3 with a 6.43 ERA for the Sölvesborg Firehawks. He was 10th of the Elitserien's 12 qualifiers in ERA, between Karl Knutsson and Mikael Fasth. [7] In the 2016 Federations Cup, he was 0-1 with a 4.76 ERA for the Firehawks, losing to Apollo Bratislava. [8]

The left-hander made Sweden's squad for the 2016 European Championship. In his debut, he relieved Jakob Claesson in the 5th with a 5-0 deficit against the Czech national team, two on and one out. He retired Adam Hajtmar and Jakub Hajtmar to escape that jam. He worked the last three innings, allowing only an unearned run. He also faced the champion the Netherlands, relieving Albin Sivard in the 4th with a 4-3 deficit, one out and one on. He walked Nick Urbanus, allowed a Randolph Oduber single to make it 5-3 and walked Roger Bernadina. Claesson relieved him. He finished the event with a 0.00 ERA in 3 2/3 IP; only Bryan Berglund had more IP with a zero ERA for Sweden. [9]

Simon was with the Kalamazoo Growlers in the '17 Northwoods League, walking 10 in 9 1/3 IP. He was 0-1 with a 6.14 ERA for the Firehawks that summer. [10] He was 1-0 with a 2.57 ERA for Sölvesborg in the 2018 Federations Cup, appearing in a team-high three games. He led the event in appearances. [11]

In that year's Elitserien, he was 3-0 with a 3.15 ERA, .206 opponent average and 51 K in 40 IP. He was 7th in ERA (between Kieran Moore and Per Sjörs), tied for 9th in wins, was 6th in K (between Moore and Nicklas Melin) and 5th in opponent average. [12] He returned to Karlskoga and was 3 for 13 with 2 doubles and 4 walks in 2019, getting to bat on occasion again; he fell to 3-3, 6.15. He fanned 48 in 41 innings but walked 34. He was 9th in the league in Ks. [13]
