Biographical Information

Sébastien Boucher reached AAA in his third minor league season (2007) and has played for the Canadian national team.

Boucher had a very good junior year (2004) in college, hitting .352 with 37 stolen bases and leading the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference in runs (57) and hits (76). He made the league All-Star team in the outfield and was named Player of the Year. He was in the top 20 in NCAA Division I in stolen bases. The Seattle Mariners picked him in the 7th round of the 2004 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Mark Leavitt and made his pro debut the next summer.

Making his professional debut at age 23, Boucher led Mariners farmhands in average (.340) and OBP (.434) and stole 22 bases in 26 tries. He hit .326/.411/.461 in 48 games for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers and .352/.453/.474 in 52 outings for the Inland Empire 66ers. He tied Billy Butler and Ryan Spilborghs for 10th in the affiliated minors in batting average for 2005.

Boucher batted .259/.286/.370 and made two errors in center field for Canada in the 2005 Baseball World Cup. He stayed with Team Canada for the 2006 World Baseball Classic and pinch-hit for Matt Stairs in the 7th inning of the game against South Africa. His RBI double was part of a 4-ran rally that gave Canada the lead. Boucher stayed in at DH but did not bat again. It was his lone appearance of the 2006 WBC.

Boucher struggled at the plate in 2006, hitting .248/.351/.305 for the San Antonio Missions. He did steal 26 bases, tying Shin-Soo Choo for second among Mariners minor leaguers, one behind Bryan Sabatella. His 9 triples tied Josh Womack for the most of their minor leaguers. He was 4th in the Texas League in steals.

In the Americas Qualifier for the 2008 Olympics, Sébastien batted .167/.283/.200 for the lowest OPS of any starting position player for Team Canada. Canada finished 4-3 and in fourth place when the top two teams qualified for the Olympics.

He also played for the Waikiki BeachBoys of the Hawaii Winter League, hitting .179/.317/.321 though his 18 runs in 26 games were second on the club.

In 2007, Boucher's woes continued. He batted .235/.336/.306 overall for three teams. He spent time with the Tacoma Rainiers (.298/.398/.381 in 28 games), West Tenn Diamond Jaxx (.219/.325/.289 in 59 games) and Norfolk Tides (.218/.302/.277 in 23 games). He was traded with a player to be named later to the Baltimore Orioles in early August for John Parrish.

Boucher batted .217/~.280/.217 for Canada in the 2007 Baseball World Cup.

He was named manager of the Ottawa Champions of the Can-Am Association for the 2019 season. He had spent the previous four seasons as a player-coach with the team.
