Biographical Information

Sean Ross was a minor league outfielder who reached AAA.

Ross was taken by the Atlanta Braves in the 8th round of the 1986 amateur draft. He hit .305/~.370/.404 for the GCL Braves that season. He was 5th in the Gulf Coast League in average and was 4th in steals (31). He made the GCL All-Star outfield alongside Dan Arendas and Kevin Dean. Baseball America rated him as the #10 GCL prospect, right after Tom Gordon and Hensley Meulens. With the 1987 Sumter Braves, Ross faded to .245/.279/.305, though he did steal 43 bases while being caught just 7 times.

Sean rebounded to .306/.359/.397 in 31 games for the 1988 Burlington Braves. He hit .271/.318/.426 with a career-high 11 home runs for the '89 Durham Bulls, scoring 71 runs and stealing 22 in 34 tries. Apparently injured, Ross saw little action in 1990, appearing briefly for Durham (.272/.298/.395 in 21 G) and the GCL Braves (.385/.429/.769 in 6 G).

Ross put up a .282/.322/.417 line for the 1991 Greenville Braves, stealing 20 while being caught five times. He made it to AAA to open 1992 and hit .246/.274/.399 in 104 games for the Richmond Braves. He was dealt at the trading deadline with Nate Minchey to the Boston Red Sox for Jeff Reardon. Ross was 0 for 4 with a walk in two games for the 1992 Pawtucket Red Sox. He opened 1993 with Pawtucket but put up just a .225/.259/.325 line in 26 games; he also spent time that year with the Colorado Springs Sky Sox (.303/.328/.487 in 34 G) and Central Valley Rockies (.314/.390/.543 in 9 G). He concluded his career with 35 games for the 1994 Thunder Bay Whiskey Jacks, hitting .239/.277/.396.
