Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Scott Steinmann played in the Seattle Mariners farm system from 1996 to 1998, reaching the AA level in his final season. He retired early in the year to fill in as a coach for the Lancaster JetHawks and ended up staying there for the remainder of the season.
Steinmann moved into a full-time coaching role in 1999 as a minor league catching instructor for the Mariners and then coached the Everett AquaSox when their season began in June. He was the hitting coach for the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers in 2000-2001 and San Bernardino Stampede in 2002. Steinmann took on his first managing gig with the AZL Mariners in 2003 and 2004 and managed the Timber Rattlers in 2005. After coaching with the AZL Mariners in 2006, he returned to managing from 2007 to 2009. In 2010 and 2012, Steinmann was a hitting coach for the Everett AquaSox. Steinmann was the bench coach for the Tacoma Rainiers in 2013 followed by two more seasons managing the Clinton LumberKings. This job ended Steinmann's association with the Mariners organization.
After a year out of baseball, Steinmann joined the Oakland Athletics organization in 2017 as a manager of the Beloit Snappers and then the Midland RockHounds. He was scheduled to manage the RockHounds in 2020 before the season was cancelled due to COVID-19. Steinmann managed the Lansing Lugnuts in 2021 to complete his latest round as a manager. In 2022 he joined the Athletics major league staff as a High Performance Coach, a role he repeated in 2023.
