Biographical Information

The son of Hank Webb, pitcher Ryan Webb was selected by the Oakland Athletics in the fourth round of the 2004 amateur draft. He was signed by scout Steve Barningham and made his pro debut that summer with the AZL Athletics, going 1-1 with a 4.87 ERA in 8 games. The next year, he was 5-11 with a 4.76 ERA in 28 appearances for the Kane County Cougars. He was with the Stockton Ports in 2006, posting a 8-9 record and a 5.28 ERA in 23 starts. In 2007, he went 4-7 with a 5.75 ERA in 15 games for Stockton and earned his first taste of AA ball, posting a 9.12 ERA and picking up 4 losses in 5 starts for the Midland RockHounds. He went 9-8 in 25 games with Midland in 2008.

On July 5, 2009 Webb was traded by the A's with a player to be named later and Craig Italiano to the San Diego Padres for Scott Hairston. Webb made his major league debut as a reliever for the Padres three days later. The A's sent Sean Gallagher to the Padres to complete the trade on July 28.

On November 13, 2010 Webb was traded again, this time by the Padres with Edward Mujica to the Florida Marlins for Cameron Maybin. he pitched for the Marlins from 2011 to 2013, making at least 50 appearances in relief each season as a middle reliever. He had some good ERAs during that span, including a 3.20 mark in 2011 and 2.91 in 2013. In [2014 Orioles|2014]], he moved to the Baltimore Orioles as a free agent and continued to be a valuable if low-profile member of the bullpen. He made 51 appearances, with a 3.83 ERA, pitching 49 1/3 innings, striking out 37 and walking only 12. The Orioles were the AL East champions that year, but Webb was not used in the postseason. he then failed to make the team out of spring training in 2015 and was designated for assignment.

On April 9, 2015, the Orioles traded Ryan to the Los Angeles Dodgers along with minor league catcher Brian Ward and a draft pick in return for catching prospect Chris O'Brien and pitcher Ben Rowen. Before he could pitch for the Dodgers, however, he was assigned to the AAA Albuquerque Isotopes. As is his right as a veteran, he asked for his release instead of accepting the assignment, and on April 13th, signed as a free agent with the Cleveland Indians, but still headed to AAA, with the Columbus Clippers.
