Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Ryan Webb was drafted in the 42nd round of the 2001 Amateur Draft by the Anaheim Angels (1,257th overall). He split the remainder of the 2001 season between the Provo Angels and the Cedar Rapids Kernels. Overall, he hit .318 in 51 games.

In 2002, Webb was with the California League Rancho Cucamonga Quakes where he hit just .249/.313/.311 with only 13 extra-base hits (no home runs) in 241 AB in a hitter's league.

Webb spent the next four seasons in independent leagues. He made stops with the Elmira Pioneers (.266 in 2003), the Edinburg Roadrunners (.338/.380/.500, 30 SB, 1 CS in 2004), and the Long Beach Armada (.344/.403/.487, 30 SB, 6 CS in 2005 and .274/.333/.352 in 2006. In 2004, he was third in the Central Baseball League in average and made the All-Star team as an outfielder. In '05, he tied Alex Arias for fifth in the Golden Baseball League in average.

Despite a .309 batting average over 320 games, Webb was not picked up by any major league teams.
